Szepty/Whispers: Performance
In Development

In Szepty/Whispers, an artist probes their family's silence around mental health disability, seeking words for their own experiences. As they sift through traces of the past, they grapple with the afterlife of violence, the limits of language, and the politics of memory. Through a fragmented accumulation of personal narrative, documentary material, and multimedia design, Szepty/Whispers searches for disability kinship across generational fault-lines.

Szepty/Whispers has been developed at Playwrights Theatre Centre as part of the Associates program.
The project has also been supported by: the Canada Council for the Arts; the BC Arts Council; Rumble Theatre; Progress Lab 1422; Chimerik似不像 Collective; National Theatre School of Canada’s Art Apart initiative; Boca del Lupo and Rice & Beans Theatre’s DBLSPK series; mentorship with Boca del Lupo’s Artistic Director Sherry J. Yoon; Universal Limited's Horizontal Help program; The Arts Club Theatre Company’s LEAP Playwriting Intensive.

Parallel digital experiences and dramaturgy developed in collaboration with The Cultch Digital Storytelling Team (Kris Boyd, David Mesiha and Milton Lim).
