In this immersive, website-based experience, visitors choose between fragments contributed by various artists (in the form of audio files, transcripts, and ASL videos). Each fragment considers how lineage shapes the language of madness, trauma, and neurodivergence. Which words do we receive, reclaim, shed, or salvage? What histories do they carry? What does speaking make possible? What does silence hold space for? Different choices lead to different playlists. Through a shifting arrangement of voices, the project aims to create a nuanced dialogue, which includes the incommunicable.
Szepty/Whispers: Dialogue is being presented at the 2021 rEvolver Festival between May 31-June 6 2021. To register for the project, book a free ticket through EventBrite.
