Szepty/Whispers: Dialogue
rEvolver Festival, Rendezvous with Madness Festival

Szepty/Whispers: Dialogue is a digital experience using a web app and QR codes. Encounter “Whispers” (audio and text contributions from various artists) as you wander in-between different sites on unceded Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories (in so-called downtown Vancouver). Delve into a fragmented, non-linear journey that explores the relationship between mental health, language, and lineage. Listen, read, contribute, and join the conversation.

A collage juxtaposes fragments from a family archive with fragments from the history of psychiatry. At the centre, a colourful inkblot test blooms from a black-and-white military uniform. Below, a partial diagram of the brain overlaps with a diary page and a graph. In the upper right corner, a black-and-white figure walks away, holding a book. In the lower left corner, two faceless black-and-white figures stand: an adult with a child in their arms.
