Bug and Stu, two recent immigrants to Turtle Island (Canada), share a love for their grandmothers and stargazing on their apartment rooftop. Through a series of letters read aloud, we discover the deep love, connection, and longing between the two youngsters and their grandmothers - Babcia and Obachan. Bug’s grandma has been talking funny lately - sometimes she forgets who she’s talking to! Stu’s grandmother has been ill for a while, and Stu has been warned - treat every phone call as if it were the last. But they’re coming for their first ever visit to see their grandkids!
After their arrival, the grandmothers mysteriously disappear! The apartment sprouts chicken legs and carries Bug and Stu off to the world of Baba Jaga and Yamamba, two ancient mythical witches with incredible powers, from Poland and Japan. Guided by our trusty narrator, we follow Bug and Stu through a series of magical tests to find Babcia and Obachan and bring them back home. But the witches won’t make it easy for them...
